To ensure platform stability and fair usage, each API key is subject to two request rate limits simultaneously:
  • Hourly Request Quota: the maximum number of requests allowed within a rolling one-hour window.
  • Per-Second Rate Limit: the maximum number of requests allowed within a single second.
If either limit is exceeded, the API returns an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests error. Both limits are enforced simultaneously. Once the hourly request quota is exhausted, subsequent requests will be rejected until the quota resets.

Best practices

  • Cache responses appropriately on the client side. Fixture data doesn’t change every second.
  • Use the page and limit parameters to paginate through large datasets, rather than making many single-item queries.
  • For real-time needs, use the WebSocket endpoint (Premium plan) instead of polling /livescore.
